Overview of Academic Research

Our long-term goal is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying spaceflight-related medical challenges, with a particular focus on cardiovascular dysfunction and bone loss induced by microgravity. We are particularly interested in the following areas.

1. Mechanistic studies of aerospace medicine–related pathologies.

2. Molecular mechanisms of myocardial remodeling, with an emphasis on the regulatory roles of non-coding RNAs and ion channels.

3. Mechanosensing in bone tissue cells, investigated through mechanical models (altered gravity, shear stress, and soft/hard substrates) and validated in mouse models.

4. Therapeutic development targeting membrane proteins, focusing on small-molecule modulators of ion channels.
