Being trained as a medical doctor and a basic research scientist, Cao Yihai and his team pursues basic and translational research with emphasis on clinical implications. He has made seminal contributions to several medical fields. These include discovery of novel molecules and mechanistic studies of signaling molecules targeting the pathological vasculature as novel therapeutic approaches for treatment of cancer, ocular disease therapy, obesity and diabetic and cardiovascular diseases.
