Overview of Academic Research

Prof. Saverio Bellusci's research focuses on the mechanisms of lung development and regeneration, with particular attention to the roles of fibroblast growth factors and stem cells in lung development and regeneration.

His research interest include:

1. Pulmonary hypertension: To study the vascular remodeling mechanism of pulmonary hypertension and develop its potential treatment. To study the protective effect of growth factor on pulmonary hypertension and its mechanism.

2. Repair after pulmonary fibrosis injury: To study the mutual transformation of myofibroblast and lipofibrobalst in pulmonary fibrosis.

3. Bronchopulmonary dysplasia: A mouse model was used to study neonatal bronchopulmonary dysplasia and investigate the potential therapeutic effects of growth factors in BPD.
