Director Weihong Song Invited to Attend China-Cuba Biotechnology Cooperation Working Breakfast Hosted by Cuban President

 On the morning of September 6, Mr. Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the country, presided over the "China-Cuba Biotechnology Cooperation Working Breakfast" in Shenzhen. The meeting was attended by several ministers and senior officials from the Cuban government. At the invitation of Mr. Alberto Blanco, Cuban Ambassador to China, Academician Song Weihong, Director of Oujiang Lab, attended the working breakfast, accompanied by Wang Yi, Deputy Director of Oujiang Lab.

During the meeting, Song Weihong introduced to President Díaz-Canel and other Cuban leaders the planned collaboration for the "China-Cuba Joint Translational Research Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Neurodegenerative Diseases." Song expressed his expectation to engage in practical cooperation with Cuba in joint scientific research, talent exchanges, and成果转化 in the field of life and health, aiming to address global challenges in related areas. President Díaz-Canel showed strong interest and high appreciation for the proposal, emphasizing the important role of scientific and technological cooperation in bilateral relations between China and Cuba.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cuba. The working breakfast provided a high-level platform for biotechnology cooperation between the two countries and reflected Cuba’s strong emphasis on collaborating with China in related fields. Oujiang Lab will continue to leverage its strengths in scientific research talent and platforms, actively implement the Joint Statement of the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Cuba on Deepening Relations in the New Era, respond to the national strategy of innovation-driven development, and engage deeply in international scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, contributing to global innovation and development in the field of biotechnology.
